J. I. Staley, 1912-1995
J. I. Staley was a member of the Board of Managers of the School for Advanced Research for many years. An energetic supporter of scholarship and the arts, he
demonstrated his commitment to furthering preeminent anthropological research and writing
by establishing the J. I. Staley Prize in 1988. Mr. Staley's generous endowment of the
Prize has ensured the ongoing recognition of outstanding scholarship in the field of
anthropology.
